Zechariah's Song

..."And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;

for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,

to give his people the knowledge of salvation

through the forgiveness of their sins,

because of the tender mercy of our God,

by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven

to shine on those living in darkness

and in the shadow of death,

to guide our feet into the path of peace."

I really feel as though this is God's fundamental purpose for each of us. There was a clear plan for John's life even before he had been born [Luke 1.11-17], and God has an individual plan for each of us too, although in the end, God's overall plan for us is the same; That we give people the knowledge of salvation through God's forgiveness of their sins, and guide their feet into peace.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...'
