Peace, Perfect Peace

I was really nervous this morning as I woke up and had to go to uni to collect all the assignments I slaved over last term. I was even more nervous than usual because a) I had worked even harder than I usually do, and b) there were six assignments to pick up, which six times the nerves I would feel had it been just one.

As I was walking I felt God bring to mind the verse in Isaiah 26.3:
"You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!"
And immediately grasped hold of these two things:
1. My marks were not going to change based on whether or not I worried
2. The ultimate end was not whether or not I got the grades I desired, it was God's plan, which would be realised regardless of my grades.

And so, as I focused my mind on Him, I found myself in perfect peace, isn't He great?

Good thing he is sorting out your 'plan' instead of feeding starving children around the world...Get real!

    1. First, I think you're missing the point just a little. I wasn't talking about God sorting out my plan, I was talking about God's ultimate plan being the most important thing.

Second, God asks us (human beings) to take care of the starving, the poor, the widows and the orphans. Poverty and starvation is mostly the result of human negligence, and I (personally) do what I can to help. If you are as concerned about it as you are making out, sell your laptop, sell your house, and DO something about it.

And what is God's ultimate plan? What does that mean? Does he have a plan for starving children?

And also may I correct your quack waffle on the source of penury, which is actually 'mostly' the failure of impoverished countries to empower their women. Backwards rights schemas have rendered women little more than birthing machines in these countries; their yield a rust on land that cannot sustain them. Give women control of their reproduction cycles and prosperity is enabled. Unfortunately, religion in it's many forms is a barrier to this process...

Well done for supporting charities though. I do hope however that any financial contributions have gone to non-christian charities, who tend to have a better record in providing effective help where needed, not bibles.

    1. It's difficult to explain all that is God's ultimate plan in a concise form; however, I would some it up best as this: to have a loving relationship with all of mankind, personally; Jesus.

God's plan for all is eternal, it has no end, it isn't something that begins and ends in this life, but it goes beyond it and begins before it. God tells us he knew us before we were born, and his greatest desire is that all of us know him too. So when I said in my earlier comment that God's ultimate plan was the most important thing, I meant his plan for all mankind universally; which is to have a relationship with them (so yes this involves starving children).

Funnily enough, I didn't mention supporting charities, I simply said I do what I can to help. However I do give to charities (Non-Christian as well as Christian).

Whilst you may feel as though giving people bibles is not effective, I actually believe it to be the most effective form of help, as it attacks the source of the problem rather than the cosmetic damage it causes.
For example, what is more effective: To continually bring aid to a country at war, or to look for what is causing the war and tackle that? Surely the second approach. Why? Because it deals with the root of the problem, the underlying issue causing all the other issues; rather than just continuing to fix it on the outside.

Maybe if more people were unselfish, less people would go without. Maybe if more people were honest, less confusion would occur. Maybe if more people were willing to humble themselves and compromise, less wars would happen. Maybe if more people knew God, they would be more like him and automatically unselfish, honest and patient, automatically dissolving absolute poverty, deceit, distrust, and war.
